Fiducial symbol technology enables a camera to detect a symbol and display content that is matched to it on screen. As an example, a unique symbol can be printed and stuck to the bottom of a cube. By placing the symbol within the view of the camera, a video is shown on screen.

Projection Mapping
A map projection is any method of representing the surface of a sphere or other shape on a plane. Map projections are necessary for creating maps. All map projections distort the surface in some fashion. Depending on the purpose of the map, some distortions are acceptable and others are not; therefore different map projections exist in order to preserve some properties of the sphere-like body at the expense of other properties. There is no limit to the number of possible map projections.
Augmented Reality (AR) technology combines real world and computer generated data, allowing for blending of computer generated images into real footage, in real time. In short, AR is to super impose graphics, audio and other digital enhancements over a real world environment in real time.
